Briggs Family
Georgia Etta Briggs
Georgia Etta Briggs was born 16 Feb 1869 in Turner Junction, Illinois. Turner Junction later was renamed West Chicago. The family soon moved to Winfield, Illinois based on the 1870 census. In that census, the census taker recorded Georgia as Georgie and her gender as male. Georgia and James W. Wallace married 4 Jan 1888. Together Georgia and James had one child, Mary Etta (or Marietta), born 29 Oct 1888. By 1891, James either died or James and Georgia divorced. In 1891, Georgia married Frank Fairchild. Georgia and Frank, had two children, Rupert Harold (29 April 1892) and John Edward (30 May 1897). John was a doctor and died from the plague, while treating patients in 1928.
George White Briggs
George Briggs immigrated 9 Feb 1855 with his wife Alice (maiden name unknown), and sons Joseph and Marritt. It appears that Alice died shortly after immigration as George was shown in the 1860 census with Martha as his wife, with George's son Joseph, and George and Martha's son George. The 1900 census gives 1857 as the marriage date of George and Martha.
